As a company being built by predominately Black young men (aged 18 - 25 of whom none have a criminal record by the way) the news events of the past week have left us collectively taken aback--pushed into contemplative silence. Make no mistake the events of the past week and the social, racial, and economic contexts that they exist within are also some of the same contexts that have inspired and informed the purpose and the building of the progressive activist ice cream social enterprise you all know (and love) as the Taharka Bros. Ice Cream company. We're still processing the recent events surrounding the police and Black men in Ferguson and New York city (and recent lesser known places). But, there is a collective dread of the idea of any manner of run-in with members of the law enforcement community (aka the police) as we've known perennially understand that any engagement with the police could lead to our potentially being killed.
Real talk, loved ones.
"Peace" to all of the protestors across the country letting their voices be heard.
