Your big Brothers landed in the February 2014 'SWEET!' issue of Baltimore magazine (the best sweets the city has to offer). They gave the Brothers love for our new TB classic flavor, 'A Dream Preferred', our ice cream flavor that's a tribute to Langston Hughes (pictured below) and his poem 'Harlem: Dream Deferred' (toasted coconut ice cream, raisins pureed in Haitian rum, and chocolate covered Pop Rocks)!
Great to "read 'em giving Brother Langston some love!
And, we're humble homeboys over here but even we have to give it up, 'A Dream Preferred' is a slammin' flav!!

Citizen Diplomat award winners, poet Maya Angelou, former Senator J. William Fulbright in 1993
For the collaborative agricultural (Haitian chocolate trade initiative) effort your big Brothers have been engaged in with De La Sol Haiti for the past two years, TB/along with DLSH have been named the Global Ties U.S. organization's (formerly the National Council for International Visitors, or NCIV) Citizen Diplomat of 2014! It's the organization's highest honor, having been awarded only 8 (now 9) times since the award's creation back in 1987 (with Senator J. William Fulbright being the first recipient)!
We're extremely honored and humbled to join the ranks of this, so far, very small group of people deemed persons of positive international impact!
And, the crazy kicker, family, is that one of the recipients of this honor is the legendary poet/activist and national treasue, Maya Angelou (who's life and work legacy is on our list of near future flavors to make)!
Learn more about the award, Global Ties U.S., and the past recipients below.
Shout out and congrats to MICA alum turned blowin' up film director, Lotfy Nathan, director of the new documentary film, Baltimore's '12 O'Clock Boys' (http://12oclockboys.com/).
Opened up the latest issue of RollingStone magazine and peeped out the below piece on its pages about the film and director. You can learn more about the film below. It opens in local theaters and digitally on 1/31/14.
FYI, loved ones: Director Lotfy Nathan also rides w/your big Brothers as he's had a hand in helping bring the new Taharka Bros. film to life working on the film crew for the Loki Films produced/directed film back in July w/Oscar nominated Directors Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing! The TB flick debuts at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival in the Big Apple this April!

We say peace out and thanks to the lovely and kind Marge, owner of the Nut Farm at Greenspring Station, Baltimore, as she's shutting down the joint and moving on to new and different things! She's held the Nut Farm down for around 18 years and is ready for a change.
Mad love to ya', Marge! We loved working with you! Thanks for supporting the Brothers and being a wholesale customer. We wish you all the best as you begin the writing of your new life chapter!
W/big Brother love,

And a third wave of Kickstarter.com campaign Langston Hughes/'A Dream Preferred' postcard rewards hit the streets, family! See the big @ss USPS truck? So, focused on getting these rewards out on the streets that we almost "bit brick" by said truck as it pulled up to the mail box not seeing your big Bros! Just sayin', we out here in these streets risking it all to make it happen for you, siblings! ;o)
Shout out to TB supporter and little sister, one Rebecca Murphy. Stand up! Grabbed a card to feature as a random shout out today and your card on top of the stack. So, sis, this shout out goes out to you! Thanks for the love! And, of course, thanks goes out to you all (always).
On the back of the postcard below is the Hughes poem 'Harlem: Dream Deferred'. It's the inspiration for our new classic flavor 'A Dream Preferred'. If you're unfamiliar with this poem give it a read in the photo below. Brother Langston's got a batch of great writings and this is but one of 'em!
Be on the lookout for your postcards, people.

Shout out to the University of Notre Dame Renaissance Institute Seniors posse (about 20 deep) for rolling through the factory for a visit this morning to see the show! We all had a ball y'all! Our Langston Hughes flavor was a big hit w/the dame mob!
In the pic below: Big Brother Mr. Freeze (aka Sous Chef Kowfi) kicks a funky demo on the science of ice cream making!
Sous Chef Kowf pours the ice cream milk mix into the machine before the ingredients go in.
Sous Chef Kowfi pats down the Cheesecake ice cream flavor into boxes for the trip into the blast freezer.
Sous Chef Kowfi gives the University of Notre Dame Renaissance Institute Seniors posse a tour of the rest of the facility.

FYI: To all of our Taharkaholic pint pouncing loved ones out there. Here's a new pint packaging update. We've using pint boxes w/ventilation holes built in. It's a small detail that will make a big difference in terms of freezing, allowing the cold air to circulate more thoroughly, which in turn allows us to maintain the quality before the pints leave the facility to meet you in the stores!
Just steppin' up the game even more for the family in the one-four!
